Syllabus › Module 01, What OFM is
Who this course is for and how to use it
In brief
This free course is for three profiles: the complete beginner, the chatter who wants to move up a level, and the operator already in business who wants to modernize the conversation. It is not for creators looking to protect themselves from an agency, nor for those who want passive income. The method: one module a week over eight weeks, one exercise per lesson, a single working folder.
What you will be able to do
- Know whether this course matches your situation, or does not concern you.
- Set up a working folder and a pace you can hold for eight weeks.
- Understand why the order of the modules is not negotiable.
Three profiles
This course was written for three specific situations.
The complete beginner. You have heard about the industry, you do not know where to start, and you want to know whether this trade suits you before spending six months on it. Modules 1 to 3 answer that question. You can read them without opening a single account, and you can decide at the end of module 3 that the trade is not for you. That is a perfectly acceptable outcome, and it is even one of the reasons this course exists: the industry is described with a lot of enthusiasm elsewhere, rarely with its costs.
The chatter who wants to move up a level. You already run inboxes for an agency, paid by the hour and on commission. You know the craft, but not the economics around it. Modules 1, 5 and 7 are written for you: they explain where the money you generate comes from, how a script is built, and which indicators the person paying you looks at.
The operator in business. You already manage one or several creators and your problem is the conversation: cost, night coverage, team turnover, uneven quality, languages. Go straight to module 5, then to module 7. Those are the two modules that have changed the most since 2023.
Who this course is not for
It is not for creators looking to understand how to protect themselves from an abusive agency. The subject is real and documented: the BBC investigation of June 2026 reports contracts giving the manager access to the account and the ability to change its email address, and quotes the UK anti-slavery commissioner describing “recognised signs of exploitation”, namely “control, coercion, financial pressure and an inability to leave freely”. This course is not a protection guide for creators, and it does not claim to be.
Nor is it for those looking for passive income. Nothing in this trade is passive. Automating the conversation, which is the big subject of module 5, does not remove the work: it moves it toward supervision, writing and measurement.
Finally, it is not for those who want a promise of income. You will find none here, not a single projection, not a single screenshot of earnings. The course describes mechanisms and costs, with their sources.
Why the order matters
The eight modules are not eight independent articles. Each one assumes the previous one, and the order matches the order in which decisions are actually made.
We start with the trade itself because you cannot negotiate a percentage without knowing which tolls exist upstream. Then we look for a creator, because without her there is no operation. Then we look at the sales platforms, because each has its commission, its payments and its rules. Then we build the marketing, persona, content plan and funnel, because you need traffic before you can talk about conversion. Then we set up the conversation, prices, scripts and AI chatting, because that is what turns traffic into revenue. Then we lay down the legal frame and the numbers, because an operation that is not measured cannot be corrected. Then we talk about scale, routine, roles, team and cash flow. And only at the end do we choose the tools, because a tool never replaces a method.
The most common mistake is to jump straight to acquisition, because it is the visible part of the trade. The result is always the same: a lot of traffic, little revenue, and a wrong conclusion about the quality of the traffic.
An eight week method
One module a week, eight weeks in all, is a pace that someone with another job can hold. One lesson a day at most, each followed by its exercise the same day. The exercise matters more than the lesson: it is what turns reading into a skill.
Three working rules, simple and demanding.
A single folder. Everything you produce during the course goes into the same folder, including the failed drafts. At the end, that folder is your working method; you will reopen it for every new creator.
A three line journal. After each lesson, note what you learned, what you did, and what you did not understand. The third line is the most important. If the same misunderstanding comes back three times, reread the module concerned before moving on.
No shortcuts on the numbers. From this first module on, you will keep a spreadsheet. It will be empty at first and ugly for a long time. Keep it anyway. Modules 6 and 7 are useless without it, and the site’s calculators check it without replacing it.
What this course will cost you
Nothing in money: the eight modules, their thirty-seven or so lessons and the calculator section are published here in full. On the other hand, the exercises of modules 3 to 7 assume test accounts: a Threads account, a Telegram account, and from module 5 on, access to a conversation tool. The latter are paid at every serious vendor on the market; the public prices are quoted in the relevant lesson, with their verification date, so you know what to expect before you get there.
Key takeaways
- The course targets three profiles: the complete beginner, the chatter who wants to move up a level, and the operator already in business who wants to modernize their conversation.
- Order matters: the offer before acquisition, acquisition before the conversation, the conversation before scale.
- One module a week, one exercise per lesson, a single working folder. Without the exercises, the course is just reading.
- This course sells nothing and promises no income. It describes a trade and its costs.
Do this now
Create now the working folder you will use for the whole course. Fifteen minutes.
- Create a folder named
ofmwith four subfolders:persona,offer,acquisition,numbers. - In
numbers, create an empty spreadsheet with these columns: date, platform, account, spend, revenue, number of conversations, number of sales. - In the root folder, create a file called
journal.md. After each lesson you will write three lines in it: what you learned, what you did, what you did not understand. - At the top of the journal, write the date by which you want to have finished the eight modules. A date, not an intention.
