Telegram Stars: what the creator receives on a price in Stars

A paid media on Telegram is sold in Stars. Telegram does not publish a fixed conversion rate in its pages: this tool asks you for the dollar value of a Star, as an assumption, applies the commission of a conversation AI if you use one, and gives the net.

The formula

An assumed value, an optional commission

Gross value = price in Stars × dollar value of a Star (assumption).

AI commission = gross value × AI rate, if a conversation tool is enabled.

Net for the creator = gross value − AI commission.

What Telegram publishes, checked on September 15, 2026: Stars are bought through Apple and Google in-app purchases or through the official bot; all sales are final; the purchase price can be changed at any time; the price of 1,000 Stars and the amount received when withdrawing 1,000 Stars are API configuration parameters, not figures published in the clear; withdrawal goes through Fragment to a TON wallet. One special case is published: for paid messages sent by non-contacts, the receiving user keeps 85% of the Stars paid to send each message. That rule concerns those messages, not paid media sold by a bot; the tool does not apply it.

Frequently asked questions

Three questions about this calculation

Does Telegram publish the dollar value of a Star?

Not as a fixed rate in the pages consulted on September 15, 2026. The API documentation states that the dollar price of 1,000 Stars and the amount received when withdrawing 1,000 Stars are configuration parameters (stars_usd_sell_rate_x1000 and stars_usd_withdraw_rate_x1000), read by the apps, not figures published in the clear. The bot payments documentation publishes a table between Stars purchased and developer net proceeds, as an image. That is why this tool asks for the value of a Star as an assumption, to be read from your own withdrawal page.

Are sales in Stars refundable?

The Terms of Service for Telegram Stars state that all sales of Telegram Stars are final and that Telegram does not refund unwanted or accidental purchases. The same document states that Telegram reserves the right to change the purchase price of Stars at any time. The net calculated here therefore depends on the value you enter on the date you read it.

Where does the 15% AI commission come from?

From the OnlyChat pricing page, checked on September 15, 2026: 20 dollars per creator per month, plus 15% commission on the sales made by the AI on Telegram (10% on OnlyFans). If you do not use a conversation tool, uncheck the box; if you use another one, enter its rate.
