X, simply: the only network that accepts adult content
In brief
X is the only one of the three acquisition networks that accepts adult content: its published policy allows adult nudity produced and shared with consent, provided it is labeled and not displayed prominently, never as a profile picture or a banner. A direct link to the content platform is possible there, and resharing between creators is the acquisition mechanism specific to X.
What you will be able to do
- Cite what X publishes on adult content, and what it does or does not allow on a profile.
- Set up an X account, choose formats and use communities and cross-reposting between creators.
- Describe how the link destination differs between X and the other networks.
X, formerly Twitter, holds a place of its own in acquisition for this business, and that place rests on a single published page. This lesson cites it, then derives the account, the formats, the link, the rhythm and measurement from it.
What X publishes
X’s Help Center publishes a policy titled “Adult Content Policy”. It defines adult content as “any consensually produced and distributed material depicting adult nudity or sexual behavior that is pornographic or intended to cause sexual arousal”.
The sentence that makes the difference with Instagram and TikTok is this one: “You may share consensually produced and distributed adult nudity or sexual behavior, provided it’s properly labeled and not prominently displayed”.
Three conditions come with that permission, and all three are published on the same page.
Labeling. Media must be placed behind a content warning, through an account setting or post by post. The page warns: “If you continue to fail marking your posts, we will adjust your account settings for you”.
Placement. Adult content is not allowed “in highly visible places such as profile photos or banners”. In other words, anything that cannot be hidden behind a warning must stay free of nudity.
Audience age. “Users under 18 or viewers who do not include a birth date on their profile cannot click to view marked content.” Part of the audience will therefore never see labeled media, and that is by design.
What it does not say. A published policy is a contractual condition, not a guarantee. X can change it, and its enforcement remains X's judgment. The page also states that "Anyone can report unmarked content" and that an appeal process exists. As everywhere in this course: no tool and no method makes an account compliant.
The account
The same first name and the same profile photo as on the other networks, so the persona is recognizable from one network to the next. Since the profile photo and the banner cannot be hidden, they stay free of nudity: that is the published rule, and it is also what gives the account a clean look for someone arriving from elsewhere.
The bio can be more direct than on Instagram, because X does not publish a ban on links to adult content sites. It stays short: who she is, a tone, a link.
From the moment the account is created, enable sensitive media marking in the settings. Doing it afterwards, post by post, is the first source of mistakes.
The formats
Photos are the base format. One photo, one line of text, the marking when needed.
Short videos travel better than photos when reposted, because they hold attention longer.
Threads, several posts chained together, are for telling a story: a day, a series, something behind the scenes. They establish the persona and get reread for a long time.
Communities and cross-reposting
This is the acquisition mechanism specific to X. A repost exposes a post to the audience of whoever reposts it. Between creators whose audiences look alike, a cross-reposting agreement grows both accounts without advertising.
In practice: identify accounts of comparable size, propose a simple exchange, keep your word, and measure followers gained in the week the exchange takes place. X’s topic communities, when they exist on a topic of the persona, play the same role with an audience that is already gathered.
What does not work: large-scale automatic repost groups. They expose the account to unrelated audiences, and the follower count they produce does not turn into conversations.
The link
On X, the bio link can lead directly to the content platform. It is the only one of the three networks in this module where that is the case, and it is what shortens the funnel by one step.
That does not make Telegram useless. The funnel lesson laid it out: the content platform gives a sale, Telegram gives a list. Many operations put both in the bio, or go through a link page to measure which of the two gets clicked.
The rhythm
X tolerates a high volume, and posts age fast there. Several posts a day is a common rhythm, and it holds with a scheduler. The constraint is elsewhere: every adult media must be marked, and a high rhythm multiplies the chances of forgetting. The account-level setting solves that problem once and for all.
Measurement
The same three numbers as elsewhere, views, followers gained, link clicks, per account and per week, in the table from the account hygiene lesson. A fourth number is specific to X and worth writing down: the number of reposts received, because it is what explains the weeks when followers go up without the content having changed.
Key takeaways
- X publishes that "You may share consensually produced and distributed adult nudity or sexual behavior, provided it's properly labeled and not prominently displayed".
- The same policy does not allow that content "in highly visible places such as profile photos or banners", and states that users under 18 or without a birth date cannot open marked media.
- On X, a direct link to the content platform is possible; it is the only one of the three networks in this module where that is the case.
- Cross-reposting between creators is the acquisition mechanism specific to X: each repost exposes one account to another's audience.
Do this now
Set up or review your X account. Thirty minutes.
- Open the X page on adult content cited in the sources and copy into your file the sentence about profile photos and banners.
- Check in the account settings that sensitive media marking is enabled, before publishing anything.
- List five creator accounts whose audience looks like yours, and write the message you would send them to propose a cross-repost.
- Add a line for this account in the
acquisitiontab of the spreadsheet, with the same three numbers as for Instagram, plus the number of reposts received.
