Syllabus › Module 02, Recruiting a model
Selecting and qualifying a creator
In brief
Selecting a creator happens in three stages: a twenty-minute video interview with ten prepared questions, an age and identity check with the ID shown on camera, then a written decision in four lines. OnlyFans requires a valid ID and two photos, MYM a passport or an identity card with a security selfie. Five warning signs close the file.
What you will be able to do
- Run a twenty-minute video interview with prepared questions.
- Verify age and identity with the same documents the platforms require.
- Describe the warning signs that must stop the process, and write a decision.
She has replied, she wants to talk about it. The temptation is to say yes right away: you searched for a long time. Resist. A bad selection costs weeks, and sometimes an account. This lesson gives a method in three stages: the interview, the verification, the decision.
The interview: twenty minutes on video
Always on video, never only in writing. You need to see the person, hear how she talks about her project, and check that the person on screen is the one in the posts. Twenty minutes are enough if the questions are prepared.
Here are ten questions, in an order that goes from the simple to the decisive.
- Since when have you been posting, and why did you start?
- What takes up most of your time today?
- Have you ever sold content, on which platform, and what happened?
- How many hours per week can you realistically devote to creating content?
- What will you never do, whatever the price?
- If an AI or a person replies to fans in your place, in your voice, what do you think of that?
- Which country do you live in, under what status, and do you have a bank account in your name?
- Are you already working with someone, or have you before?
- Who has access to your accounts today?
- What would make you stop?
Note the answers during the interview, not after. And listen more than you talk: your pitch fits in three minutes, the rest is hers.
The criteria
Verified age, with an identity document. This is the only non-negotiable criterion, and it admits no exception, no “trust”, no “we’ll see at sign-up”. The platforms require it: the OnlyFans terms require, to open a creator account, to “Upload a valid form of ID and two photos of you”, and reserve the right to ask for “additional age or identity verification information any time we ask for it”. The OnlyFans help center reminds users that they “must be at least 18 years old” and must “provide OnlyFans with certain information to confirm your age and identity”. MYM certifies an account with a valid passport or identity card and a security selfie holding the document, and states that health insurance cards, driver’s licenses and residence permits are not accepted.
Do the same as they do, on video: the document shown to the camera, the date of birth read out, the face compared. Do not keep a copy of the document without a legal basis and without necessity; note the verification, its date, and the type of document. The lesson on legal basics, in the module on legal and calculators, comes back to this “proof of age” as the first document in the file.
Motivation. Not the enthusiasm of the first call: the reason. A person who knows why she wants to do it lasts six months; a person who “wants to try” lasts three weeks.
Availability to create. Content cannot be delegated. If the answer to question 4 is “I don’t know”, the project does not exist yet.
Tolerance for chatting, AI or human. Question 6 is the one that surprises. Some creators refuse to have someone speak in their place; others above all do not want to do it themselves. Both positions are respectable, and both must be known before signing, because your model rests on one or the other. The chatting module explains what each option implies.
The situation: country, status, bank. Platforms pay into a bank account in the creator’s name. MYM requires an account in the creator’s own name and publishes different withdrawal thresholds depending on whether the bank is in the SEPA zone or not. A creator with no bank account in her name, or in a country where the platform does not operate, cannot be paid, and therefore neither can you. The tax status is settled later, but the question arises now.
The warning signs
Five signs, and each one is enough.
She refuses verification. Whatever the reason given, there is no next step. This is not a negotiation.
She wants money up front. An advance, “compensation” for time spent, equipment to fund before the first sale. The model is a revenue split; a request for money before the revenue reverses the relationship.
She already has several managers. A creator who works with two or three people at the same time does not have a manager, she has suppliers. You will never know who did what, and you will share the inbox with strangers.
Her account is shared. An account that a former manager, a friend or an ex-partner can still access cannot be recovered without a complete reset of access. It can be done, but it is a condition, not a detail.
She does not match her posts. The person on video is not the one in the photos, or the age gap is visible. End of the interview, politely.
Add a sixth, more discreet sign: she tells you what you want to hear. A creator who answers “no problem” to everything, including question 5, has not thought about it, or is not telling you the truth.
What the platforms add
Two published rules weigh on your selection.
The OnlyFans Acceptable Use Policy prohibits any use that features “Anyone under the age of 18 or anyone in explicit content who is over the age of 18 and who has not completed our Creator onboarding process or provided us with a properly completed release form”. If the creator plans content with a partner, that person must go through the same verification, and you need to know it now.
MYM’s terms of use provide that any creator publishing content created, modified or enhanced by an artificial intelligence solution must state it clearly. If your model includes generated content, the creator must accept it, and know it beforehand.
The written decision
After each interview, write four lines: yes or no; the main reason; what is missing, if anything is missing; the date. Do it for refusals too, especially for refusals: in six months, you will no longer remember why, and the person may come back.
If it is a yes, send her a message that sums up what you understood from her answers, what you propose, and the next step: the contract. If she corrects something in your summary, now is the time to know. The next lesson describes the first week.
Key takeaways
- OnlyFans requires, to open a creator account, "a valid form of ID and two photos of you", the addition of a bank account, and the right to ask for "additional age or identity verification information any time we ask for it" (onlyfans.com/terms, read on September 15, 2026).
- MYM certifies an account with a valid passport or identity card, a security selfie holding the document, a mobile number confirmed by SMS, and refuses driver's licenses, health insurance cards and residence permits (support.mym.fans, read on September 15, 2026).
- The OnlyFans Acceptable Use Policy prohibits any content featuring "Anyone under the age of 18" or any adult in explicit content "who has not completed our Creator onboarding process or provided us with a properly completed release form" (last update shown: September 2025).
- A creator who refuses verification, asks for money before starting, already works with several managers or shares her account is not a candidate: it is a closed file.
Do this now
Prepare your interview grid and your decision template. Thirty minutes, before the first meeting.
- Create a file called
interviewwith the ten questions of this lesson, in order, and an empty line under each one to note the answer. - Add a "Verification" section with three boxes: document seen live, date of birth, face matches document. No box checked, no next step.
- Add a "Signals" section with the five warning signs. One box checked, file closed, and you note why.
- Write the decision template in four lines: yes or no, the main reason, what is missing, the date. You will fill it in after every interview, including refusals.
