SyllabusModule 02, Recruiting a model

Lesson 1 of 4

Where to find a creator to manage

9 min read Updated 2026-09-15

In brief

Five channels exist to find a creator: creators already active, beginners on Instagram, TikTok and Threads, word of mouth, listing groups, and the marketplaces where an existing contract changes hands. An account cannot be bought: OnlyFans and MYM tie the account to the person verified by ID, and Meta forbids buying and selling accounts.

Two creators sitting side by side prepare a post on the same phone.

What you will be able to do

  • Tell the five recruiting channels apart and know what effort each one demands.
  • Describe the principle of a contract marketplace and what is really sold there.
  • Know what to check, document by document, before taking over an existing creator's contract.

Without a creator, there is nothing to manage. And yet most beginners spend weeks choosing tools before talking to a single person. This lesson describes the channels that really exist, in order of difficulty, then a channel of its own: taking over an existing contract.

Creators who are already active

This is the most effective channel and the least used. A creator who already sells knows the trade: she knows what a PPV is, she has seen managers come and go, she measures what her inbox costs her in time. You do not have to explain the model to her, only to show her what you would do better than her, or in her place.

She also has demands. She will ask for your method, your references, your percentage, and she will compare. That is a good thing: a creator who asks these questions is a creator who will stay if you answer them properly.

Where to find them: on the platforms themselves, by looking at who posts regularly without replying fast in the inbox; on the acquisition networks, by spotting accounts that point to a sales page; and through other creators, who know each other.

Beginner creators on Instagram, TikTok and Threads

The most visible channel, and the most crowded. Thousands of accounts post every day without ever monetizing. Some of these people have thought about it, others have not, and some never will whatever the argument.

The profile that responds well has three traits: an existing audience, even a small one; regular posting, which proves discipline; and consistency with the persona you know how to sell. The next lesson details the approach, the first message and the limits these platforms publish.

This channel costs time. Expect many unanswered messages for one conversation, and many conversations for one collaboration. That is why the recruiting notebook in the exercise exists: without it, you will never know whether your message works or not.

Word of mouth

A satisfied creator brings another. It is slow at first and it is the channel that dominates later. Two conditions: that the first collaboration goes well, and that you ask. Many managers do not dare ask for an introduction; those who do get them.

Word of mouth also works in reverse. A creator who was treated badly says so, and the scene is small. The module on the contract exists partly for that reason.

Listing groups and channels

On Telegram and Discord there are groups where creators look for a manager, where managers look for creators, and where intermediaries offer their services. The principle: a listing, a private contact, a conversation.

Three precautions. First, you do not know who is behind a listing: the person who replies may be the creator, another manager, or someone with no connection to her at all. The identity check in lesson 3 is not optional here. Second, a listing that promises a revenue figure without proof you can check live is a listing to ignore. Third, these groups change address and moderators often; this course recommends none of them.

Contract marketplaces

A channel of its own, because you do not recruit a person there: you take over an existing operation.

The principle is as follows. A manager who is stopping, refocusing or has too many creators offers to transfer the contract that binds him to one of them. With the contract come, depending on the case, the sales accounts, the acquisition accounts, the conversation history, the fan list and sometimes the content already produced. He asks a price, often expressed as a multiple of the monthly revenue he claims.

Where these handovers are negotiated. Creator contract transfers mostly go through specialised, invite-only Telegram groups. One contract-transfer group is reachable here: Telegram group for model contract transfers. The group verifies neither the figures announced nor the ownership of the accounts: the checklist above applies to every listing, without exception.

What is really sold is not an account. Platforms bind the account to the person. The OnlyFans terms state that if a third party helps a creator manage her account, “this does not affect your legal responsibility. Our relationship is with you, and not with any third-party”. The contract between fan and creator only adds that “third parties may assist Creators in operating their accounts”. To open a creator account, the same platform asks for “a valid form of ID and two photos of you” and a bank account. MYM, for its part, requires for certification an identity document and a security selfie, and reminds creators that the bank account used for payouts must belong to them. In other words, what you buy is a contractual relationship with a creator, plus access. If she leaves, nothing remains.

Here is what to check before paying, without exception.

DocumentWhat you ask forWhat should make you walk away
Proof of revenueThe platform’s official dashboard, on a video call, live, over the last twelve monthsA screenshot, an export, a spreadsheet, an “average”
Account ownershipThe name on the platform’s identity verification, compared with that of the creator you meetAn account verified in another person’s name
Creator’s consentA document signed by her, dated, accepting the transfer to you by nameA seller who “will pass on” your message
Existing contractThe contract in force and its assignment clause; without a clause, the contract cannot be transferredA verbal contract, or a contract that prohibits assignment
Sanction historyThe warnings and content removals in the platform’s settings, liveA seller who “never had a problem” but refuses to show it
AccessThe email address and phone number linked to each account, and who controls themAn email address the seller keeps

Three risks account for most bad takeovers.

Inflated figures. Monthly revenue is checked on the official dashboard, live, never on a document that was sent to you. A one-off peak, a promotion or an exceptional month do not make an average; ask for twelve months.

The creator who leaves. She may not have been consulted, or she agreed under pressure, or she has already decided to leave and the seller knows it. Written consent, signed by her and addressed to you, is the only protection. A video call with her, without the seller, is another.

Shared accounts. An account whose email address or phone number stays with the seller is not transferred, it is lent. Same for an account still logged in on a device you do not control. The OnlyFans help center also states that “A maximum of three Creator accounts can be linked to one Creator profile”: ask which ones exist.

One last point, and it concerns the acquisition accounts that sometimes come with a takeover. Meta’s Community Standards, which apply to Instagram and Threads, prohibit “selling, buying, or exchanging platform assets, such as accounts”. An Instagram account “included” in a takeover is an account its platform can close for that reason alone. Pay nothing for it.

Where to start

If you are starting out, begin with creators who are already active and with one approach at a time. Word of mouth will come after the first successful collaboration, not before. Keep marketplaces for later, when you can read a dashboard and a contract without help: that is the subject of the legal module, and the next lesson starts with the first message.

Key takeaways

  • The OnlyFans terms bind the account to the creator: "Our relationship is with you, and not with any third-party", and the fan-creator contract only says that third parties "may assist" the creator (onlyfans.com/terms and onlyfans.com/contract, read on September 15, 2026).
  • An OnlyFans creator account opens with a valid ID, two photos and a bank account; MYM requires an ID, a security selfie and a bank account in the creator's own name: an account cannot be bought, it is taken over together with the person.
  • Meta's Community Standards, which apply to Instagram and Threads, prohibit buying and selling accounts (transparency.meta.com, Spam policy, read on September 15, 2026).
  • A creator who is already active is the easiest to convince because she knows the trade; a beginner needs more training but has no habits to undo.

Do this now

Open your recruiting notebook. Forty minutes, and it will serve every approach in this module.

  1. Create a file called recruiting with five columns: channel, profile, date of first contact, reply, decision.
  2. List three creators who are already active and three beginners you could approach, without contacting them yet. For each one, note where the idea came from.
  3. Write in one sentence what you bring that a creator cannot do alone. If the sentence contains a revenue figure, delete it and start again.
  4. Copy the checklist from the marketplaces section into a file called takeover. You may never use it, but it must exist before the first offer.
